I recently had to pick a woman of the bible and study her and I picked Leah. Not many people know her story or her victory, so here’s a letter from her.
My name is Leah
Many of you may not think my story is great to grand but it’s very important to me as well as the history of Israel. Growing up I had “weak eyes”, I guess that was a nice way of saying I wasn’t that pretty, well not as pretty as my sister, Rachel. She got all of the attention and I was simply ignored and looked over. Even my own dad treated me that way. He wanted me to trick Jacob and lay with him when he clearly wanted to be with Rachel. After Jacob found out I wasn’t Rachel the next morning he hated and despised me. I felt so alone and unloved, it seemed like nobody cared about me, but there was one person that saw all that I was going through, God. He opened my womb and I was able to have children. I thought “Oh, now Jacob will love me. ” I had 4 sons, my first born, Reuben
which means ” It is because The Lord has seen my misery. Surely my husband will love me now.”
Simeon, ” Because The Lord heard that I am not loved”
Levi, ” Now at last my husband will become attached to me” through my son Levi, came a line of Priest that were chosen from God. My fourth son, Judah, ” This time I will praise The Lord. ” When Judah came along I stopped longing for my husband to love me and I put my focus totally on God and O was blessed tremendously. You see, Judah is the ancestor of the Jews, King David, and Jesus Christ, our Messiah.
