I don’t know why as a 29 year old woman why I love reading Young adult books, like Hunger Games Series, I guess I like reading about this fantasy world or whatever. But my current book addiction is the Divergent series I am currently on the final book Allegiant, for those who don’t know, Divergent is about a world and a society that is based on factions, and each faction has a particular character trait like Candor is honesty, Dauntless brave, Abnegation is selfless,Erudite is Intelligent, and Amity is Peaceful, well the story follows Beatrix Prior who is 16 years old and her view of taking her aptitude test, and her choosing a Factions, well as the series goes along there are alot of good twists and turns that make you love the series. At first I thought it was very weird reading a book for teenagers but now I just don’t care.
Peace, Love, Write on,
“On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick Dunne’s clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick Dunne isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but hearing from Amy through flashbacks in her diary reveal the perky perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media—as well as Amy’s fiercely doting parents—the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he’s definitely bitter—but is he really a killer? As the cops close in, every couple in town is soon wondering how well they know the one that they love. With his twin sister Margo at his side, Nick stands by his innocence. Trouble is, if Nick didn’t do it, where is that beautiful wife? And what was left in that silvery gift box hidden in the back of her bedroom closet?”
I just finished this book last night and I will tell you it’s a roller coaster full of suspense, suspicion, lies, and yes love. The title when I first read I thought oh it’s about a girl that’s been kidnapped but as I read through the book the meaning if the phrase changed for me. The story starts off with Nick and Amy Dunne, their having a rough time in there marriage they have both lost their jobs and parents are sick, on there fifth anniversary Amy disappears and the the beginning half of the book your really getting to know Amy and Nick and the ins and outs of their relationship, it alternates between Nick’s voice and Amy’s voice through her diary. The longer that Amy is missing the more people are starting to look at Nick and that’s where everything gets interesting, and the story takes an crazy shift, but I don’t want to tell to much. By the end of this book I was exhausted and kind of confused. The ending was not what I thought it would be, it took me by surprise. If your wondering what happens in the end, well I’m not gonna tell go pick it up and read it you will no be disappointed.
The next book I’m reading is a classic in American literature: The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
I recently just finished Safe Haven by Nicolas Sparks , and it was sooooo good. The beginning of the book started off slow to me but after a couple of pages after, I couldn’t put the book down. The book is about a mysterious girl named Katie who is new in town and meets Alex at the store that he owns. Every time the two meet you find out more and more about Katie and Alex as well. Although this is a love story as Sparks is known for, there is also a darkness and sadness about the book. It touches on the dark subject of domestic abuse and as I was reading I found my self very emotional, yes because of the love that was blossoming between Katie and Alex but mostly for what she had to go through with her husband, Kevin, and how she got away. The book keeps building suspense with Katie and Alex getting closer and falling in love and also with Kevin always looking for her. This was my first time reading one of Sparks books and I wasn’t disappointed. The ending wasn’t what I expected, but that’s not a bad thing. If you pick up this book you won’t want to put it down. You will also go through so many emotions : love, sadness, suspense, and happiness, which were the main ones for me. If your looking for a good read this is the one, you can take my word for it.
Next book up is Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.
